This planning project is meant to help guide the possibility of adding soccer fields to Columbia Heights parks. Please help us by sharing your thoughts, ideas, and feedback as the planning process continues. We also ask that you share this with others so we can gather as much information as possible to create a plan that is in alignment with community needs.

WSB, in collaboration with the City of Columbia Heights and community stakeholders, have collected community input related to adding soccer field(s) in the city. Through an in-person open house and online surveys, roughly 50 responses were received. Community members and stakeholders expressed the following:

Immediate Improvements

• Huset Park is the most feasible site for new field(s)
• The desire for a dedicated year-round full sized soccer field
• Additional parking to accommodate new field(s)
• Multiple fields in Huset Park, or possibly a soccer complex
• Smaller youth fields in parks outside of Huset (Gauvitte, Keyes, McKenna, Ostrander)
• A field that could be used for tournaments
• Affordable rental opportunities

Long Range Goals

• Adding site amenities such as restrooms, seating and drinking fountains
• A dome for winter games
• Synthetic turf field(s)
